From local fields to national fame, these stars got their start in White Lake.

Sports run deep in White Lake, and Lakeland High School has long been at the heart of it. It’s no surprise some standout talent once wore the Eagle uniform. Today we're celebrating five unforgettable athletes from Lakeland High School who made a name for themselves well beyond the hometown field.


1. Grace Stark – Professional Track & Field Athlete (100m Hurdles)

A dominant hurdler during her time at Lakeland High School, Grace Stark won multiple Michigan state championships before emerging on the international stage. In September 2025, Stark earned bronze in the women’s 100-meter hurdles at the World Championships in Tokyo, representing Team USA. She is widely recognized as one of Michigan’s most accomplished high school track athletes and continues to compete at the elite global level. (Sources: TeamUSA, USATrackField, MLive)


2. Lauren Memmer – Softball Pitcher (Saginaw Valley State University)

One of the most decorated softball players in Michigan history, Lauren Memmer made her mark at Lakeland High School by earning Miss Softball of Michigan in 2007. She set state records for career pitching wins and single-season victories, while also earning All-American and all-state honors. Memmer continued her career at Saginaw Valley State University and was later inducted into the Lakeland High School Hall of Fame, recognized for excellence both on the field and in the classroom. 3. Ronnie Attard – Professional Ice Hockey Defenseman (Colorado Avalanche)

A standout defenseman at Lakeland High School, Ronnie Attard was named the 2019 Dave Tyler USA Hockey Junior Player of the Year. After a successful collegiate career at Western Michigan University, Attard continued his professional journey and was signed as a free agent by the Colorado Avalanche on July 1, 2025, solidifying his place among Lakeland’s top hockey alumni. 4. Stephanie Lock – Multi-Sport Athlete (Basketball, Track & Field, Volleyball, Soccer)

A model multi-sport standout at Lakeland High School, Stephanie Lock earned 10 varsity letters across four sports, setting the school’s single-season basketball scoring record with 368 points as a senior and finishing her career with 750+ points, 500+ rebounds and All-State honors. She was also a two-time All-State discus thrower, an All-Region and All-Conference volleyball outside hitter, and went on to continue her basketball career at Urbana College before transferring to Wayne State University. 5. McCoy Biagioli – Amateur Golf Champion (Ferris State University)

Lakeland alumnus McCoy Biagioli etched his name into Michigan golf history by becoming just the 11th golfer to win both the Michigan Amateur Championship and the Golf Association of Michigan (GAM) Championship in the same year. A standout at Ferris State University, Biagioli delivered clutch performances against the state’s top amateurs, including a pivotal 18-foot putt to secure a Michigan Amateur semifinal victory.
