Food & Water Watch Southeast Michigan Campaign Kick-Off
Thursday, March 14th 6:30pm-8:00pm
Birmingham Unitarian Church
38651 Woodward Avenue
Bloomfield Hills, MI 48304
We don’t pick the easy fights, but we are committed to working with and supporting concerned and passionate citizens. We look forward to bringing likeminded people together to not only provide an overview of these two urgent campaigns, but also to draw connections, build strong relationships, and brainstorm so that we can collectively work across Southeast Michigan to take action on these issues.
Fracking is the unsafe process used to extract natural gas from shale beds located deep underground. This risky method is quickly spreading across Michigan and threatens the air we breathe, water we drink, communities we love and the climate upon which we all depend.
The labeling of genetically engineered (GE) foods is not a novel idea. The European Union and over fifty countries have already embraced the idea of labeling GE foods so why has the United States chosen not to adopt these same measures? Stand up against the likes of Monsanto and help us build the movement to label GE foods!
Please RSVP and join us on Thursday March 14, 2013. Contact: Tia Lebherz at (313) 486-1356 or by e-mail at tlebherz@fwwatch.org.
Food & Water Watch works to ensure the food, water and fish we consume is safe, accessible and sustainably produced. So we can all enjoy and trust in what we eat and drink, we help people take charge of where their food comes from, keep clean, affordable, public tap water flowing freely to our homes, protect the environmental quality of oceans, force government to do its job protecting citizens, and educate about the importance of keeping the global commons — our shared resources — under public control.
