Friday Night Live: Rick and John

Rick and John’s blend of acoustic rock and original tunes continue the popular, free Friday Night Live Music Series in Milford’s downtown gazebo from 7-9 p.m. Friday, July 22.

The gazebo is located in Center Street Park.

According to member John Bonham, “We have a sound mixture of rock, pop and folk rock and enjoy playing for old and young alike. Popular music we play would consist of Elvis, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, America, Simon and Garfunkel, Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, and Neil Young to name a few….In all we have about 100 songs total we can play at anytime, anywhere to any age.

Songs their audiences can’t get enough of include: It’s Now or Never (Elvis Presley), the Beatles’ Till There Was You and Black Bird, Wild Horses and Last Time (Rolling Stones) and America’s Ventura Highway and Sister Golden Hair. Other popular tunes the group plays include Homeward Bound (Simon and Garfunkel), Willie Nelson’s Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground and Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain, My Back Pages and If Not For You (Bob Dylan) and Neil Young’s Long May You Run and Four Strong Winds

Recent performances include the “Larry Nehasil fundraiser event” at 59 West, “The Blue Lantern” coffeehouse in Brighton and “The Well” in Brighton for a cystic fibrosis benefit. “We are currently working on a CD that will be comprised of original material. We should have it finished by mid-spring 2011,” added Bonham.

The concert will take place rain or shine. In addition, artists will conduct demonstrations and sell their artwork at various locations along Main Street. 

In the event of inclement weather, the concert will move into the nearby Milford Presbyterian Church. 

Milford Downtown Development Authority and Huron Valley Council for the Arts jointly present the popular Friday Night Live Concert Series, which features one more concerts this summer:

  • Alan Smith – New Tattoo, including folk and blues, both instrumental and vocal, August 26
