Five Metro Detroit Teens Selected for 2015 Bank of America Student Leaders Program
Student Leaders will complete a paid eight-week internship with Focus: HOPE and attend a leadership summit in Washington, D.C.
Five community-minded teens have officially begun an eight-week, paid internship at local nonprofit Focus: HOPE through the Bank of America Student Leaders program.
Alana Crawford, Labrayla Key, Mathew Massey, Christina Okezie and Isabella Ouellette were selected to take part in the life-changing experience through their extensive community involvement and passion for positive social change.
Throughout the internship, the students will be immersed in hands-on experiences with early childhood education, food and career training programs.

This week, these five young activists will join other Student Leaders from around the country for a week-long leadership summit in Washington, D.C., where they will participate in skill-building workshops, a service learning project, sessions to develop better money habits and meetings with Members of Congress.
In addition to an unparalleled learning experience, this summit allows the chance for young community leaders to meet their peers from around the nation and discuss the necessary steps to improve our communities for the next generations and beyond.

The Student Leaders program is part of Bank of America’s ongoing commitment to preparing young people for a brighter future. Since 2006, the program has connected 45 teens from metro Detroit with summer employment, and has supported 2,200 young people nationwide.
