Lakeland Varsity Soccer Shuts Out Milford 2-0; JV Remains Undefeated
Lakeland pulls out a win against Milford as the two cross-town rivals clash in the rain.
The Lakeland girls soccer team shut out Milford Monday evening 2-0 in the light rain.
The first half was a close checking game by both teams. Eagle midfielder Amanda Allen scored Lakeland's first goal on a corner kick at the 29:12 mark of the second half. Junior midfielder Lexe Walker scored Lakeland's second goal at the 16:14 mark. Lakeland's goalkeeper Lauren Reiter got the shutout for the Eagles.
With the win, the Eagles raise their record to 4-2-1, while Milford's record goes to 1-4-1.

The Lakeland JV team remained undefeated at 7-0 with a 5-1 victory over Milford. Mackenzie Purvis received a cross from Nina Foote and scored about five minutes into the game. Later in the first half Logan Kroezen gave Foote a cross, who buried a goal in the corner of the next for a 2-0 halftime advantage.
Purvis scored her second goal of the game early in the second half to put the game out of reach. Foote scored her ninth goal of the season and Purvis completed the hat trick in the game's final seconds with a goal in the top corner.
