Police Release Details About Car in Hit-and-Run with Amish Buggy

A buggy carrying four members of an Amish family was struck in a hit-and-run accident on Thanksgiving Day.

Michigan State Police said Monday they’re looking for a black Oldsmobile Alero believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run accident that sent an Amish family to the hospital on Thanksgiving Day, The Saginaw News/MLive reports.

The family – a 29- and 23-year-old husband and wife and their two children, ages 2 years and 4 months – sustained non-life-threatening injuries when their buggy was struck by the vehicle, the newspaper said in an earlier report. The four members of the family were treated at Tawas St. Joseph hospital.

The horse pulling the conveyance was severely injured. It’s unclear if the horse survived, nor is the extent of the damage to the buggy known. The buggy was properly marked with lighting and reflectors, police said.
