Nonprofit celebrates grand opening of new Walled Lake thrift store location

The new thrift store located at 730 North Pontiac Trail near West Maple Road and Pontiac Trail will replace the existing store and donation center located at 1154 East West Maple Road, expanding the location from 30,000 sq. ft. to 44,680 sq. ft.

“The new Walled Lake location provides more convenience and better accessibility to the store’s donation center, while expanding the store floor an additional 15,000 square feet,” said Jacqulynn Idzior, director of operations for The Salvation Army Southeast Michigan Adult Rehabilitation Center. “We’re very excited to open this new location, as we continue to serve the community members who shop our stores and the beneficiaries of our programs.”

Founded by William Booth in London, England, in 1865, The Salvation Army is a faith-based, non-profit organization dedicated to serving people in need without discrimination. The ARC is an integral part of TSA’s mission, and offers substance-abusing adults the opportunity to rebuild their lives through a voluntary, short-term residential self-help program designed to establish a sense of dignity, self-esteem and personal strength that will allow them to resist the desire to abuse a substance and regain their rightful place as contributing members of society. Completely self-funded, the ARC draws its entire operating budget from the revenue of the 34 Salvation Army Thrift Stores located in Southeast Michigan.
