Tickets on sale now for May 6 LeaderCast Detroit featuring world-renown business leaders

The one-day simulcast leadership conference is sponsored by Baker College and Wyandotte Rotary.

Baker College of Allen Park will be the site of the 2016 LeaderCast Detroit simulcast conference featuring world-renown business leaders, such as Apple Inc. co-founder Steve Wozniak and University of Alabama Head Football Coach Nick Saban. The event, which Baker College is co-hosting with the Wyandotte Rotary Club, is Friday, May 6, 2016, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

LeaderCast is a one-day conference broadcast live from Atlanta to host sites around the world. It’s designed to equip people to be better leaders, managers, employees and community members. General continuing education (CEU) credits and CEU credits in the fields of nursing and human resources are available.

Now in its 16th year, the 2016 LeaderCast broadcast is titled “Architects of Tomorrow” and will focus on what it means to be a visionary leader who sees a future rich in innovation and collaboration and who utilizes available resources to bring that vision to life.

“Sponsoring LeaderCast Detroit truly speaks to our guiding principles,” said Kristine L. Barann, CPA, Baker College of Allen Park president. “By partnering with one of our community Rotary chapters, the event is an outreach to develop leaders in our communities, businesses, organizations and homes. It’s a terrific opportunity for our students, staff and community to be inspired and challenged by world-class leaders, offering their wisdom and experiences.

“Even experienced leaders should look at improving their skills. Our world is changing at such a rapid pace, and leadership needs to adapt and look for opportunities to take their organizations to the next level.”

Wyandotte Rotary Club President Jeremy Gyorke said, “Research shows that three out of four people report their boss is the worst and most stressful part of their job. Bad leadership costs the economy $360 billion every year in lost productivity.

“Rotary is about joining leaders, exchanging ideas and taking action. We’d like to help raise the level of leadership in the greater Detroit area, and bringing this world-class, one-day leadership event right into our backyard is an excellent resource. We are thankful Baker College has partnered with us to make this leadership dream a reality.”

2016 speakers

The group of internationally acclaimed authors, leadership experts and practitioners will provide a diverse perspective on how to create one’s own visionary path. Attendees will be able to engage in activities at the event and on their mobile devices.

In addition to Wozniak and Saban, this year’s speakers—visionaries in their fields—include:

· Cmdr. Rorke Denver, Navy SEAL and author

· Chris Barez-Brown, author and creativity guru

· James Brown, CBS sports and news broadcaster

· Dr. Henry Cloud, acclaimed leadership expert, clinical psychologist and best-selling author

The event’s beneficiary, the not-for-profit Blessings in a Backpack, is a neighbor-helping-neighbor program that provides nutritional foods to at-risk families and children. The program’s goal is to remove barriers to academic success by keeping children from going hungry when they are away from school each weekend.
