The White Lake eighth-grade girls basketball team beat Highland Middle School 41-21 Wednesday afternoon.
The first quarter was a tight defensive battle that ended in a 2-2 tie. White Lake's offense got into gear in the next two quarters, and they outscored Highland 16-5 to take a 18-7 lead at the half.
The offense was highlighted by a series of give-and-go baskets by guards Amanda Lock and Marie Haney. There was also solid rebounding on the defensive boards for the Warriors.

Highland came out strong early in the second half to close the gap to 29-14 going into the final quarter, lead by the inside play of Elise Gustafson.
Lock lead the way for White Lake with a game-high 16 points, followed by Haney with 10. Gustafson led Highland with 10 points.
