Parking Space in Front of Bacon Library Could House Recycling Bin
Director Anita O'Brien says the bin's current location is too hard to reach for the collection truck.
A recycling container could soon occupy a parking spot in front of Wyandotte's Bacon Memorial Library.
Library Director Anita O'Brien says the bin's current location is too hard to reach for the collection truck.
O'Brien requested permission of the Wyandotte city council to move it to a parking spot on Vinewood Street, and the topic will be discussed at the council meeting Monday evening.
"Currently the bin is in the parking lot behind the library building, but the driver has quite a bit of difficulty accessing it due to the size of the truck and the narrowness of the lot and the overhead wires at the entrance," O'Brien wrote in a letter to the city council earlier this month.
The parking space is the one closest to Van Alstyne in the indented parking area in front of the library.
"The bin is emptied once every two weeks and the driver assures me she will access it during the early morning hours when the traffic on Vinewood is light," O'Brien wrote.
The council meeting takes place at 7 p.m. Monday in the council chambers, located at 3200 Biddle Ave.
