• Son Fatally Shoots Mother In Metro Detroit Before Taking Own Life During Arrest: Police (patch.com) — Wyandotte residents are reeling after a 67-year-old woman was found shot to death in her Sixth Street home, hours after she called 911 about a domestic dispute with her son. Police say license plate readers helped track the son's vehicle from Wyandotte to Toledo, where he fatally shot himself during an attempted arrest, and investigators are linking his handgun to the Wyandotte killing. 
• Could Detroit build its own power grid? City council weighs options after storm (clickondetroit.com) — Detroit's City Council is studying whether the city could follow models like Wyandotte's municipal power system after storms left hundreds of thousands without electricity. Members ordered staff to research how cities such as Wyandotte and Ann Arbor manage their own energy, while DTE points to recent grid investments and improved outage times as reasons to stay the course.
