Pinnacle Race Course Will Not Reopen in 2011
The state's only thoroughbred race track announced Thursday it will remain shuttered until next year.
Two days before the Kentucky Derby, owners of the state’s only thoroughbred race track announced Thursday that they will not be opening this year.
Pinnacle Race Course of Huron Township has surrendered its 2011 license for live thoroughbred horse racing, according to Crain’s Detroit Business.
The business, which is located about a mile from Detroit Metropolitan Airport, closed last year amid a dispute with township officials over unpaid taxes.

While the plans were to reopen this year, track owners have now decided to remain closed and focus on preparing for the 2012 season, according to Crain’s.
