Wyandotte's Hunter Matt to Play Final High School Football Game
The Wyandotte standout was selected to play in Saturday's 32nd annual Michigan High School Football Coaches Association's East-West All-Star Game.
Wyandotte's will compete in the final football game of his high school career when he takes the field at Alma College at 4 p.m. Saturday for
Matt was the only player to make the roster. He'll play on the East team, which is being coached by Macomb Dakota High School's Mike Giannone.
He's been living in the dorms on Alma's campus and participating in two-a-day practices since Sunday, preparing for the big game.

The game will air live on FOX Sports Detroit.
After the All-Star game, Matt will have a little time to enjoy the summer before the next stage of his football career begins. He has signed with Eastern Michigan Unversity and will become an Eagle.

"I picked EMU because of how the coaching staff made me feel wanted," Matt said. "The president of the university has definitely stepped up and is putting money into every part of the school. Coach (Ron) English has done a great job turning this program around and we're looking to compete for a MAC (Mid-American Conference) championship."
As senior inside linebacker and running back, Matt played three years on varsity football, the last two as a team co-captain.

Matt had 124 tackles and one sack at linebacker, the position he will play at EMU.
As a running back for the Bears, Matt rushed for 744 yards and 14 touchdowns, including . Matt also handled the kickoff duties for Roosevelt and kicked 51 times for a total of 2,207 yards. He also had two touchbacks.
At 6’1” 220 pounds, Matt’s combination of speed and strength has had him on the radar of collegiate scouts for some time. In addition to EMU, Matt also received an offer to play at University of Akron. Both schools play in Division I college football.
Wyandotte head coach Ron Adams played at EMU and in 1987 helped lead the team to a victory in the California Bowl. He was later honored by the team, which placed his name among other notable former players along the upper rim of the stadium.
“Hopefully I can get my name up on that stadium like he does,” Matt said. "Once I get there, I'm looking forward to learning from older players and getting able to compete against (Division 1) talent. My education is going to come first and I look to get my degree in my four to five years I'm in Ypsilanti."
He said he's leaning towards majoring in nursing, but may go in undecided.
Matt is part of a successful football family, as his brother Andrew, a former Roosevelt standout, plays at Wayne State University, and his father David played at Northern Michigan University.
He is a two-time Wyandotte Patch Athlete of the Week and also excels . He was one of the best players in the Downriver League last season, hitting .505 with two home runs and 40 RBIs.
UPDATE: West beat the East, 59-7. Matt led all defenders with 11 tackles.
