• El Rancho Opens as it Awaits Liquor License (legalnews.com) — Downtown Zeeland residents have a new dining option as El Rancho Mexican restaurant opens inside the 17 E. Main development, even as it waits on state approval for its liquor license. The family-owned chain, already familiar from nearby cities, offers full lunch and dinner hours seven days a week and plans to serve alcohol once its various licenses come through.
   

• Labor Day Truck Parade Set for Monday (legalnews.com) — Zeeland residents can line Washington Avenue Monday morning as the Holland/Zeeland Community Labor Day Truck Parade rolls from MillerKnoll's parking lot through Zeeland and on to downtown Holland. With at least 80 West Michigan businesses participating, the event honors local workers, features a slightly revised Zeeland route due to construction, and ends with truck displays and free ice cream at Holland's civic center.
   

• There are five trials coming up in Ottawa County. Here's the cases (hollandsentinel.com) — Ottawa County courts have a busy fall ahead, with trials, sentencings, and resentencings scheduled in several high-profile criminal cases. One involves former Zeeland mother Karen Boes, who awaits a decision on whether she'll receive a new trial after evidentiary hearings on fire science and interrogation concerns related to her daughter's 2002 death.
