MN Super 8 Hotel Shooting Latest: 3 Dead, Including Suspected Gunman
Police responded to the hotel after receiving a call from a hotel employee that they thought a fellow employee had been attacked.

CLOQUET, MN — Three people are dead, including the suspected gunman, following a shooting at the Super 8 hotel in Cloquet, according to a news release shared by the Cloquet Police Department Monday night.
Police responded to the scene around 6:30 p.m. Monday after receiving a call from a hotel employee who said they'd found another hotel employee who looked like they'd been attacked.
At the hotel, police found a 22-year-old woman with a gunshot wound. She was rushed to the hospital, where she died, according to police.

Later, police found a 35-year-old man shot to death inside a car in the hotel's parking lot, and a 32-year-old man outside on the hotel's property with a gun next to him, dead by what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
Officers said they confirmed through hotel surveillance video that the 32-year-old was the suspect.

Identities of the three dead are not yet being released pending notification of family, police said.
There was no information immediately available on a possible motive for the shootings or if there was any connection between the suspect and either of the victims, according to police. The crime scene is still being processed.
"Police are confident there is no further threat to the public," according to Monday's news release. "The Cloquet Police Department extends its sympathies to the families of the victims in this tragic case."
The Super 8 hotel is located near Big Lake Road and Highway 33 in the city’s business district. A community alert sent around 7 p.m. Monday warned people who were not in the immediate vicinity to stay clear of the area. Police also issued a shelter-in-place for those already there.
The shelter-in-place was lifted just after 8:30 p.m.
A news conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cloquet City Hall.
