DULUTH, MN —The Duluth area may see up to an inch of snow this week as the rain changed over. "The first winter storm of the season is forecast to bring snow to the Northland," the National Weather Service said.

"A Winter Strom Warning is in effect for Koochiching County. Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for northern St. Louis, northern Itasca, and Cass counties through Noon Friday. This is where the highest snow amounts are forecast. Elsewhere, lighter snow amounts are forecast. The snow will end from west to east on Friday afternoon."

In Duluth, a mix of rain and snow today will switch to all snow by Thursday night, and "some minor accumulations are possible." Some lake-effect snow is possible later this weekend and next week.
