Lightning Strikes Electrical Box On House In Central Minnesota
A couple was asleep inside the home when they heard a loud "boom" noise outside Wednesday morning.
STEARNS COUNTY, MN — Authorities believe a lightning strike hit a home in central Minnesota Wednesday. Deputies responded to a possible house fire early in the morning a few miles north of the city of Kimball.
Occupants of the home — Charles Nystrom, 54, and Vickie Fosjord, 55, both of Kimball — were asleep inside the residence when they heard a loud "boom" noise outside. They could smell smoke and believed the residence was struck by lightning.
Kimball fire and rescue crews arrived on scene and did not locate any fires or hazards. It appeared the electrical box on the northeast corner of the residence was struck by lightning.

There was a large hole blown through the siding on the north side of the home.
There were no injuries, according to a news release. Watkins ambulance also responded to the scene.
