Mercury In Beauty Creams Tied To Minnesota Woman's Vision Loss: Report

A Minnesota woman permanently lost her peripheral vision and unintentionally put her household at risk for mercury poisoning after using creams containing the chemical, according to an exclusive report from CNN.

Home visits by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency revealed the presence of skin-lightening creams, which contained excessive mercury levels, although the chemical was not listed among the ingredients, according to CNN. High amounts of mercury were also found in towels, bedding and children’s rooms in the residence, CNN reported.

Two years ago, another Minnesota woman suffered kidney damage from using similar creams, according to CNN.
