MINNESOTA — U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson of Minnesota was one of only three Democrats to vote against the successful impeachment of President Donald Trump in the House of Representatives Wednesday. Peterson, a Democrat, comes from a pro-Trump congressional district in rural western Minnesota.

His eighth congressional district includes Willmar, Alexandria, Moorhead, and Fergus Falls. Peterson voted against both articles of impeachment.

"This process has been a mistake and I will not be whipped in line by my party," Peterson said, per Minnesota Public Radio.

"I may stand alone but I stand in good conscience. History will show this to be a mistake and the Senate will make short work of an acquittal."
