MN Farmer Dies After Tractor Rolls Over Him
A 59-year-old central Minnesota farmer is dead after he was run over by his own tractor, officials said.
STEARNS COUNTY, MN — A 59-year-old central Minnesota farmer is dead after he was run over by his own tractor, officials said.
On Oct. 15 at about 1 p.m., Stearns County received a 911 call report of a farm accident that happened in Luxemburg Township, just north of the city of Watkins.
At the scene, deputies found and began treatment on Matthew Mathies, who lying on his side in the yard. Medical personnel arrived in an ambulance and helicopter, but Mathies died before he could be transported.

According to investigators, Mathies had been attempting to hook a wagon up to the rear of his tractor and corn picker combo when the tractor began to roll forward down a slight decline.
Mathies tried to jump onto the tractor and stop it from rolling into a shed on the property. However, Mathies slipped and was run over by the tractor, authorities said.
