MN Weather: Soaking Rain Will Hit Twin Cities Tonight

Meanwhile, the relatively chilly weather will continue this week throughout central Minnesota.

TWIN CITIES, MN — Expect major showers and thunderstorms to impact the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro Monday night.

"A good soaking rain is expected tonight, with a couple of pockets with 1-2" of rain expected across the Twin Cities metro and western Wisconsin," the National Weather Service said.

Meanwhile, the relatively chilly weather will continue.

Here's the full NWS forecast for the Twin Cities metro area:

Monday: A 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 74. Light east wind becoming east southeast 5 to 10 mph in the morning.
Monday Night: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 2am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Low around 59. East southeast wind around 5 mph becoming west northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 72. West northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming clear, with a low around 51. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 74. Calm wind becoming south southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.
Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 58. South southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
Thursday: A 20 percent chance of showers after 1pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 81. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
Thursday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 62. South southwest wind 10 to 15 mph decreasing to 5 to 10 mph after midnight.
Friday: A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 74. West wind around 5 mph becoming east in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Friday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 60. South southeast wind around 5 mph.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. South wind 5 to 15 mph.
Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 66. South wind 5 to 10 mph.
