More Heavy Rainfall, Thunderstorms Thursday: Minnesota Weather

Another major rainfall this week will help beat back the drought that has plagued Minnesota this summer.

TWIN CITIES, MN — As the extreme drought continues, the Twin Cities may be lucky enough to get two major rainstorms in one week. The second one will arrive Thursday.

"Multiple rounds of thunderstorms and widespread heavy rainfall will likely bring several inches to parts of the region Thursday afternoon into Friday," the National Weather Service said.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 82. North wind 5 to 10 mph.
Wednesday Night: A 10 percent chance of showers after 5am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 61. North wind around 5 mph.
Thursday: Showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 4pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 75. East wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Thursday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 64. East wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Friday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 1pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. South southeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Friday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 68. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
Saturday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. South wind 5 to 10 mph.
Saturday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 66. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Sunday: A 20 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 75. West northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
