NORTHERN MINNESOTA — The first winter storm of the season has arrived in Minnesota. Snow is currently accumulating across various parts of "the Northland," also known as norther Minnesota.

Winter weather advisories are now in effect for St. Louis, northern Itasca, and Cass counties through Friday. Up to 5 inches of snow could fall up there.

The National Weather Service has issued a "hazardous weather outlook" Thursday for the Twin Cities metro area.

Less than an inch of snow could fall in the area Thursday night. Snow could return Saturday night, the NWS said.
