Two Kids Seriously Injured In Boat Crash On Big Kandiyohi Lake

Deputies say a tube collided with an unoccupied boat Sunday evening.

KANDIYOHI COUNTY, WI — Four kids were tubing behind a pontoon on Big Kandiyohi Lake Sunday evening when their tube slammed into an unoccupied boat, leaving two of them with serious injuries, according to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were called at approximately 6:34 p.m. to the 6600 block of 126th Avenue SE, near Lake Lillian in Fahlun Township, for a watercraft crash with injuries, the sheriff's office said.

The two injured riders suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were taken by ambulance to CentraCare Hospital in Willmar for treatment.

The other two kids on the tube were not hurt. All four were wearing life jackets at the time of the collision.

Blomkest Fire Department, Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad, Lake Lillian Ambulance and CentraCare Ambulance assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office.
