• Albert Lea's summer send-off: Wind Down Wednesday returns Aug. 12 (kimt.com) — Albert Lea’s final Wind Down Wednesday of the season is set for August 12, bringing food trucks, vendors, live music and family activities to downtown from 3 to 8 p.m. Residents can enjoy bands, a stunt show, YMCA workout, kids’ attractions and shopping while exploring local businesses and soaking up one more big summer night together.
   

• Frederick Anton Stein (wwisradio.com) — Albert Lea is mourning the passing of Frederick Anton Stein, a Vietnam veteran and longtime social worker who settled here with his wife Marietta and raised their two sons. Remembered for his service, love of music and devotion to family, he died August 1 in Albert Lea, with a graveside service planned August 8 in his Wisconsin hometown.
   

• Freeborn County CEO Program announces fall launch and new fa... (albertleatribune.com) — A new Freeborn County CEO entrepreneurship course will launch this fall, with 10 Albert Lea students and two from Glenville-Emmons meeting in local businesses each school day. Facilitator Amy Wadding will guide them through visits, guest speakers, mentors and hands-on ventures, and organizers are seeking Albert Lea-area businesses to host students or speak to the class.
