FARMINGTON, MN — A report that a person was seen on Farmington High School grounds with a weapon Thursday afternoon turned out to be a false alarm, according to the Farmington Police Department.
Officers received the report at 2:15 p.m. Thursday and responded to the school along with the Farmington Fire Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Dakota County Sheriff's Office, Lakeville Police Department and Burnsville Police Department, police said.
After clearing the scene, officers determined the person seen on school grounds was holding a media tripod and was not in possession of a weapon or considered dangerous, according to police.
There was no threat to students or staff, and the scene has since been cleared, police said.
"We appreciate the speed at which our partners responded with us to secure the scene and that everyone is safe," the department said in a statement posted to Facebook.
