• Full List Released: One Minnesota High School Topped Every Other For National Merit Semifinalists (patch.com) — Apple Valley students at Eastview High School have been named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists, putting local seniors among the top scorers in Minnesota and the nation. The statewide list shows how competitive area schools are, with Minnetonka leading overall. Semifinalists now must complete applications and confirm test scores to compete for scholarships next spring.
   

• Apple Valley teen remembered as funny, adventurous (hometownsource.com) — Apple Valley is mourning 17-year-old resident Logan Alway, remembered by family and friends for his humor, big heart, and adventurous spirit after his death while swimming in the Cannon River. Visitation will be held Sept. 16 at Henry W. Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services in Apple Valley, with a celebration of life Oct. 31 at Lebanon Hills Jensen Lake. The family suggests planting a tree in his memory and has a fundraiser to help with expenses.
