Eugene P. Gaffney, 82, of Apple Valley—loved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, teacher and friend—passed away on Friday, Oct. 12, 2012. Survived by sister, Patricia (James) Schlacks; daughters, Amy (Benjamin) Brachio and Bridget (Tim) Burns; grandchildren, Abby, Lily, Caleb, Shannon & Connor; nephews, Jim (Leslie) and Neil; great-niece, Jesse and great- nephew, Jeremy and countless students and friends. Gene was a loving family member, dedicated educator and devout Catholic. Throughout his retirement, he continued to educate, devoting significant time to teaching English as a second language. He was an adoring grandfather, treasured by his five grandchildren. A Memorial Mass is at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Church of the Risen Savior, 1501 E. County Road 42, Burnsville.
