See which towns had the most snow.

The weekend dropped a thick coat of snow across the entire Twin Cities metro area, but the south suburbs were hit particularly hard, according to reports published by the National Weather Service.

Below are the communities where the most snow was reported Sunday, as provided by the weather service:

  • 14.5 inches, Elko New Market, 4:02 p.m.
  • 14 inches, Apple Valley, 4:30 p.m.
  • 13.7 inches, Prior Lake, 10:53 a.m.
  • 13.2 inches, Apple Valley, 1:30 p.m.
  • 12 inches, Lakeville, 7 a.m.

The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport had 8.8 inches as of 7 p.m., while Chanhassen had 10.5 inches, according to the National Weather Service.

The weekend storm disrupted travel and led some schools to close on Monday. The late-winter event is expected to be followed by subzero windchills and more snow this week, according to forecasts.

Monday is predicted to bring patchy blowing snow and wind chill values as low as minus 10 degrees with gusts up to 30 mph and an overnight low around minus 1 degree, the weather service reported.

On Tuesday, snow is expected to return, possibly in the afternoon or, more likely, overnight, the service forecast. The wind chill on Tuesday is predicted to be minus 12 degrees, but by Friday, the high is anticipated to be in the 50s.
