Verlyn “Slug” Johnson, 80, of Apple Valley, formerly of Hastings, a 3M retiree, passed away on Nov. 7, 2012, after an extended illness. Preceded in death by son, Larry. Survived by wife of 62 years, Bonnie; sons, Eugene (Joy), Steve (Robin), Kermit (Jennifer), and David (Pamela); 21 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. Memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Calvary Christian Church, corner of 15th and Pine streets, Hastings. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Not For Sale Minnesota.
