Apple Valley and Eastview Have Strong Showings at Elite Track Meet
The Hamline Elite meet is a statewide qualify-only event based on the athletes' previous results during the 2011 season.
The Apple Valley and Eastview boys and girls track and field teams had strong showings at Friday’s Hamline Elite meet in St. Paul.
Apple Valley’s Hannah Linder had the top performance of the night between the two schools, finishing second in the girls pole vault competition. She vaulted 10 feet, nine inches, which placed her behind Richfield’s Sara Tseng at 11 feet, six inches.
The Eagles also got a fourth-place finish from Quinn Hooks in the boys high jump. Hooks finished the meet with a leap of six feet, four inches.

For Eastview, the girls 4 x 200 meter relay team of Alex Beckman, Leah Nesheim, Paris Sanders and Claire Elliot finished third overall at 1:46.29. Beckman also placed fifth in the girls 100 meter dash at 12.92.
In the triple jump, Beckman finished fourth at 36 feet, 6.5 inches, while teammate Melita Ware finished fifth at 35 feet, seven inches.
