Apple Valley Lawmaker Chosen As Lt. Governor Candidate

Both Democratic and Republican lawmakers praised the decision, though for very different reasons.

APPLE VALLEY, MN — Lakeville and Apple Valley Rep. Erin Maye Quade — who was first elected to the Minnesota House in 2016 — is preparing to make her case for one of the top offices in the state.

DFL-endorsed Rep. Erin Murphy selected Maye Quade has her running mate and lieutenant governor candidate over the weekend.

"When it came time to pick a running mate, I chose Representative Erin Maye Quade because she is an exceptional leader who shares my optimistic and ambitious vision for Minnesota," Murphy announced Sunday.

"She rolls up her sleeves and digs into solving problems. She’s a fierce advocate for children, families and veterans. I know that she will be a strong running mate in this election and an even better Lieutenant Governor for all the people of Minnesota."

Maye Quade is among the women who said they were sexually harassed by former Democratic state Sen. Dan Schoen and former Republican Rep. Tony Cornish. Both lawmakers resigned earlier this year.
