Apple Valley Sends 11 Unbeaten Wrestlers to State Semifinals
Destin McCauley sits two wins away from his fifth state championship.
The Apple Valley wrestling team might have won its sixth-straight state title on Thursday, but the Eagles weren’t done then.
Apple Valley advanced 11 individual wrestlers into the Class AAA state wrestling semifinals Friday at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Eleven Eagles are unbeaten and two wins away from bringing home state championships.
Senior Destin McCauley leads the way. He is looking for his fifth state title and is 2-0 at state this year at the 152-pound class. He beat Roseville’s Cory Strecker by fall before beating Albert Lea’s Trey Hable with a pin at 1:00.

Seventh-grader Mark Hall is currently unbeaten at 130 pounds.
One Apple Valley wrestler is competing in the wrestlebacks bracket. Corbin Farrell lost his quarterfinal match to Lakeville South’s Zane Peterson, but he bounced back by beating Alexandria’s Dillon Schuaff. He will compete in the consolation quarterfinals on Saturday at 10 a.m.

The remaining unbeaten Eagles will wrestle in the state semifinals at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday.
