UPDATE, 2:15 p.m. FRIDAY: Apple Valley boys tennis player Matt Bettes won the Class AA state consolation on Friday, after beating Minnetonka's Michael Tebon.
Bettes won Friday's final 7-6 (8-6), 6-4.
UPDATE, 10:30 a.m. FRIDAY: Apple Valley boys tennis player Matt Bettes will face Minnetonka's Michael Tebon in the Class AA state consolation final at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the University of Minnesota's Baseline Tennis Center.

Bettes won Thursday's semifinals match-up against Minnetonka's Joey Richards, 6-1, 6-4.

Bettes, a senior, bounced back from a first-round defeat to win his consolation quarterfinal matchup. He will face Minnetonka freshman Joey Richards at 8 a.m. Friday in the consolation semifinals.
Bettes opened up Thursday’s competition with a 1-6, 4-6 defeat against Mahtomedi senior Tucker Saxon.
He rebounded in his second match, defeating Elk River’s Joshua Chuba in 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 fashion.
Bettes is the lone Eagles tennis player remaining in postseason competition this season.
