Apple Valley's Rep Speaks Out Against 'Permit-Less Carry Bills'
"I will always support the right to bear arms and will always support background checks," Apple Valley's Rep. Erin Maye Quade said.

In a recent legislative update, Apple Valley's DFL State Representative Erin Maye Quade spoke out against "permit-less carry bills."
Quade noted that currently, if you purchase a firearm from a federally licensed firearm dealer, you are subject to a background check. Then, if you would like to carry said gun loaded and in public, you apply for a permit to carry that gun with the county sheriff, who runs an additional, more extensive background check.
Quade said this session, there have been two bills introduced that would eliminate the permit to carry and thus eliminating background checks for those who wish to carry loaded guns in public (HF 188 and HF 628).

"When I spoke to folks at the door this past year, I heard strong support for background checks on all gun sales from gun owners, NRA members, moms, dads and concerned citizens." Quade said. "I will always support the right to bear arms and will always support background checks to ensure those with access to firearms are not domestic abusers, dangerously mentally ill, or violent criminals."
Quade also noted that firearms sold person to person, online or at gun shows are not subject to any background checks.
