Boys Swimming Roundup: Eastview, Apple Valley Compete At State

The Lightning and Eagles will send individuals to Saturday's final.

The Eastview and Apple Valley boys swimming and diving teams competed at Friday’s Class AA state swimming preliminary round at the University of Minnesota’s Aquatic Center, and both teams will send swimmers on to Saturday’s state finals.

The Eagles advanced three events to the championship heat, earning its top performance from the 200 freestyle relay. The relay, consisting of Andrew France, Nate Reagles, Nathan France and Chris Smith, earned the fourth seed and All-America consideration for its 1:27.03 finish.

Nathan France took fourth in the 100 breastroke as well as eighth in the 50 freestyle.

Eastview’s Ryan Thompson earned the sixth seed in the 100 breastroke with his 59.78 showing on Friday. The Lightning’s 200 freestyle relay finished Friday’s race in 10th with a 1:45.96 time.

The top eight seeds advance to Saturday’s championship heats, while the ninth through 16th seeds compete in consolation heats.

APPLE VALLEY PRELIMINARY RESULTS

50 freestyle: 8. Nathan France (21.76). 200 freestyle relay: 4. Andrew France, Nate Reagles, N. France, Chris Smith (1:27.03-AAC). 100 breastroke: 4. N. France (59.55). 400 freestyle relay: 11. A. France, C. Smith, Brett Kohorst, Matt Wagle (3:18.44).
