Bowler's Blog: Spring Leagues: Week 3
Spring League weekly bowling update at Apple Place Bowl.
Hey readers and bloggers! Hope you had a nice holiday weekend. Week three of the spring leagues were underway last week at Apple Place Bowl. In the Adult/Junior league, Team Extreme took all seven points in a match against the Tinfoil Tigers, with Erik having his best week of the year featuring 171, 178, 171. Kathy had a nice week with two games out of three over average, but it just wasn't enough. Team Storm played The Misfits in a close battle that would come down to the wire in all three games. Michael and Steven both opened the 10th frame in game one but Erin and Vic couldn't make up the difference to take a victory, losing by just five pins. Game two would be even closer as the final result came down to the final ball. Michael and Steven would both get nineteen in their final frames, and Vic needed six for a tie and ended up taking nine for the victory. Game three would have some drama until the tenth frame where Michael and Steven would close the door for a sixteen pin victory and took five out of seven points.
The 9-Pin league seems to be having a blast and it always is nice to have additional teams join as well. The All Stars and the Asphalt Aces had a close match-up, finishing 4-3. Team five had their biggest night of the season and handled the Looney Toons in a sweep, 7-0. The Barracuda's faced off against themselves facing the "Bye" and taking all available points. The Pin Pals were in their match-up at the beginning but struggled late and only took two points of seven to team three. Team six had a big night ones again as they swept their match-up against the 7 Footers.
The Match Play league made up last week and also played this week. Mitch was on fire this week and could not be stopped as he came away with a big sweep and took himself out of the bottom of the standing sheet against Danny. Zach matched up against Jeremy in a battle for the top spot in the league and came away with five out of seven points, expanding his lead to four points. Thomas and myself battled in what I thought would have been a closer match. I took the first game, but he beat me down after, taking five out of seven points as well. The final match would end up in similar fashion as Zach would take game one against Skelly, but couldn't hang around when Skelly turned on the gas with games of 255 and 209 to take the match five out of seven as well. Zach leads the league with 16 points followed by Jeremy with 12. Tied for third are Mitch and Skelly with 11 points and Thomas is alone in fifth with 10. Luke and I are tied for sixth place with 9 points and the possible upset special of the tournament, Danny, holds down the anchor spot with 5 points.
