Bowler's Blog: Spring Leagues: Week 4

Bowler's Blog Spring Leagues: Week 4

Welcome back readers and bloggers. It was a pretty exciting week in the Adult/Junior league, with some very close games once again. Kathy was absent this week so Adam would battle alone for the Tinfoil Tigers against Erin and Vic of the Misfits. The door was left open in the ninth and 10th frames by the Misfits but Adam couldn't quite take game one on his own. Erin was above her average all night and really helped out in a victorious effort in game two. The Tinfoil Tigers would find away to pull a win out of game three in stunning fashion, as the Misfits opened the tenth frame and Adam closed the door with 19 pins in the tenth. Match-up number two involved team Extreme and team Storm. Erik came in hot for the second week in a row, breaking average by at least 15 pins all three games. Team Storm just could keep up during the first two games as Team Extreme would win in blowout fashion. Game three is where the drama would come in. Micheal had enough for team Storm and caught fire, striking his first four of five frames, and finishing with a 188 game. Erik tried to rally his team back and Jarett closed up his 10th frame with a spare but it just wouldn't be enough, as Steven would pick up his spare in the 10th frame to win by just three pins. The Misfits and team Extreme would both come away with five points and the Tinfoil Tiger and team Storm came away with two. We would also like to welcome a new team this week, the Stallions, consisting of Josiah and his dad Joe.

9-Pin No Tap was underway on Wednesday night. This week didn't feature too many close match-ups, but was still a fun time. Lanes nine and 10 featured the All-Stars vs. The Barracudas. Bob was the difference maker for the All-Stars as he absolutely destroyed his average all three games, shooting an 880 series with handicap. The third game was the closest in the battle, as it would come down to the final frame. Bob would step up and strike out, leading his team to victory by just one pin and taking the sweep. The match up on lanes 11 and 12 would end in similar fashion. Kris crushed his average for team three along with Paul as they were able to come away with a sweep as well against team five. Team five did have a new team member, so it would be an uphill battle for them with a bowler not having a handicap. However, Kris did have a 313 game after handicap, and that is just really tough to hang around with. Lanes 13 and 14 saw some real excitement during game one as Chris started off hot, throwing the first 11 strikes in a row. He tugged the 12th ball just a bit and game away with a 296 game, 322 after handicap! That would propel the Looney Tunes to a game one victory. But that would not stop the 7-Footers as they stole game two with a great performance from Kevin, who had a nice 237 handicap game, including four strikes in a row when it counted the most. Game three would sway back into the arms of the Looney Tunes and they would also take the series, winning five of seven points. Lanes 15 and 16 would have a little less excitement as they played against a team that didn't show up this week. High average bowler Thomas would keep his stranglehold at the top as he had another solid 647 series, while Michelle just fell short of 600, hitting 598. They would help lead their team to a seven point week. Finally, The Pin Pals would have a bye week where they would have to come within 40 pins of their team average each game in order to earn points. The team would come through in the clutch to do so as they took all seven points, lead by Izaak who had games of 224, 192, and 207.

Thursday night is Match Play night for the Spring leagues. This week didn't feature the most exciting of match-ups, but was still enjoyable competition. Match number one featured Thomas vs. Skelly. Skelly came out on fire and stayed that way the entire night as he would take down Thomas in all three games, winning seven points. Match number two featured myself vs. Luke and I can say, I got the best of him after giving me a run during game one. It would come down to the final ball during the first game where I needed eight pins to win after striking twice. Unfortunately, I would come away with seven and we would split the point. The next two were close, but not close enough as I would take six points out of seven. Match-up number three consisted of Jeremy vs. Mitch, and this I must say was the best of the night. Both of them came out firing in games one and two. Jeremy would try to keep up in both but just couldn't compete with Mitch's handicap and would lose the first two. Jeremy would find a way to win game three after a key ball change. Mitch would take the series total and come away with five out of the seven points. The final match-up would leave us wondering, as Danny would have to come in and post bowl Friday afternoon since he couldn't make it to league. Zach bowled his games during the league and came away with a solid 676 series. Danny knew what he had to do and would try to make up the points and come out with some victories. From the beginning, there seemed to be no stopping him as he came out with the first four strikes in a row. Then, the pins just wouldn't fall his way and a 222 game was not enough to take the first game. However, Danny would fight back in games two and three posting back to back 240+ games, taking the remaining points plus total to give him five out of seven points.
