Day 1 - Off to Amsterdam

Everyone took off on their various flights Friday, March 23. Writing from Amsterdam, Netherlands after our seven-hour flight.

7 a.m. Amsterdam (1 a.m. Rosemount)

Rosemount High School choir students and family members departed the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport on Friday afternoon. There were various flights for everyone, some including stops in Chicago, Washington D.C. and some (including me) were lucky enough to fly straight to Amsterdam, a 7.5-hour flight.

With the six-hour time difference, I am writing from Amsterdam at 7 a.m., meaning it's 1 a.m. back in Rosemount, MN. Most of us can't tell if we should be going to sleep or just waking up, myself included. Some of the students will be stopping in Frankfurt and Geneva for their layovers, but will all eventually be together.

The parents here are finding common ground in the whereabouts of their children—meaning they aren’t sure exactly where they are in the world at the moment—but everyone has confidence we will see them soon. We will be here for a couple hours then off to a shorter two-hour flight to Nice, France!

The Amsterdam airport is somewhat similar to MSP airport, but one thing is a bit different that we have all noticed ... overloads of shopping and chocolate! None of us are complaining too much about the lack of sleep, nothing a little chocolate and coffee can't fix. We are all anxious to get to Nice and start our tour. We will see all of the students together on Sunday, which will be a great way to reunite after the long flights! More to come soon!
