We had another great breakfast at our hotel this morning. It was full of fruits, pastries, meat and cheeses. We walked out to another beautiful day in Nimes, hopped on the bus and headed to Les Baux, a hill town and fortress with a great view.

We arrived at Les Baux and it was a great walk up to the top of the fortress. There were many old catapults, trebuches and canons. It was truly a sight to see. The views were spectacular from the tops of the castles and fortresses. The choir students got to join us and you could tell that they were having a blast.

From Le Baux, we headed to the charming seaside village of Cassis. This was one of our tour guides favorite places, so we were all excited to visit. The village is situated against the foot of a tall cliff, Cap Canaille. The limestone hills above the light blue Mediterranean were breath taking. We arrived in town and ate a fabulous seafood lunch.

After eating lunch, we went on a boat tour on the Mediterranean to see the famous Calanques, which look like fjords in Norway. The cliffs that we saw were incredible situated next to the azure water. There were people walking on the cliffs and sun-tanning. We even got the opportunity to see a nude beach…it was pretty far away from the boat, so we were pretty safe! The choir also went on the boat tour and it was amazing.

We walked around Cassis after our boat tour for some shopping and crepes! I can honestly say that so far, Cassis is my favorite place we have been to in Europe. It is breathtaking and completely surreal. We all loved it and wished we could have spent three days there!

We sadly departed from Cassis on our way to Aix-en-Provence where we had a chance to walk around and find a place for dinner. We had a chance to eat with my brother Tommy (who is in the choir). It was good to spend some family time together, as many other families did, and catch up on favorite events and sites!

After a long hard day, we are all pretty spent. Tomorrow we are headed to the Senaque Abby and Gordes!

Until tomorrow,

            Megan
