Thank You Rosemount Area Arts Council (RAAC)!

I made my home in Rosemount four years ago. I chose this community for many reasons, such as: neighborhoods are lively, people say hello to each other, people help each other, people take pride in their community and schools...

About ten months ago I discovered a group that is making a big impact in Rosemount, the Rosemount Area Arts Council or RAAC. (www.rosemountarts.com) I went to a meeting and I was hooked on the energy and passion in the room! I became a member that night and have really enjoyed getting to know the people in the group, and making whatever impact I can. RAAC's motto is "Building and Strengthening the Community Through the Arts" and that is indeed what they do. 

I've never met a more active group of community members! They are passionate about supporting local Arts and businesses, and it just the coolest! This was evident yet again if you were down in Central Park at all last weekend for Bluegrass Americana Weekend. If you were there you got to take in square dancing, a fantastic farmers market, a juried craft fair, kid's activities such as face painting, balloon twisting and a magician, chilled watermelon, Famous Dave's BBQ AND live bluegrass, blues, jazz, barbershop quartet, gospel and rock and roll music!

I needed to say a very special thank you, not only as a community member or a RAAC member, I am a singer in the band Break Even who got to represent the Rock 'n' Roll genre on American Roots Music Sunday. What a thrill! RAAC took a chance on my band, and allowed me to play on a beautiful amphitheater stage—on a summer night—in the community where I make my home. Wow. Thank you RAAC for making a dream come true...for real.
