You Can Never Have Too Many...

Here's an easy birthday card to create, so you can always have one on hand.

I believe that a person can never have too many birthday cards on hand so I have a simple, easy-to-create birthday card idea to share today.

The finished card size is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" (a standard size in the card-making world), but starts with a piece of card stock 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored and folded in half for the card base.

The candles are created with three pieces of striped designer paper that measure 3/4" inches wide. (A great way to use up scraps of paper—that's what these candles were!) The staggered candle lengths are: 3 1/4", 2 1/2" and 2 1/4".

Notice that the top of the candles have a small slightly oval shaped sliver cut off of them. I cut this and also the candle flames freehand with a scissor.

The candle flames began as a 1" circle. I cut one side of the circle, and then the other, as seen in the accompanying photo. The flames were made from some sparkly glitter paper, adding some bling and shine to the card. I attached them with sticky dimensional foam to make them stand out from the base and add a bit of depth to the card.

The birthday sentiment is from Stampin' Up! and the stamped piece is 1 1/2" x 2 3/4". Notice the brad that is added for the dot on the "i." It's the little details like this that take the card to the next level.

Don't forget to embellish the inside of the card, and envelope as well. That adds an extra-special touch to your handmade card.

Hope that you give this card idea a try. Oh, and don't worry about it being "perfect"!! Your recipient will be thrilled with your handmade creation and not even notice the little things that bother you!
