From liquor stores to the post office, here's a look at what's open and what's closed on Christmas in Apple Valley.

APPLE VALLEY, MN — Christmas Day falls on a Monday this year, and many government offices and businesses will be closed Dec. 25 in observance of the holiday. Here's list of what's open and what's closed in Apple Valley for Christmas 2017:

  • Post office: Closed
  • Federal offices: Closed
  • Apple Valley: City offices are closed. Call your licensed refuse hauler regarding holiday pickup hours.
  • Dakota County: License and service centers will be closed Saturday, Dec. 23 and Monday, Dec. 25. All Dakota County library locations will be closed Sunday, Dec. 24 and Monday, Dec. 25.
  • Banks: Closed
  • Gas stations: Most will remain open
  • Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan Schools: Winter break lasts from Dec. 25 through Jan. 1.
  • Liquor stores: All Minnesota liquor stores are legally required to close at 8 p.m. on Christmas Eve and must remain closed on throughout Christmas Day

  • Other retailers: Call ahead to confirm holiday hours
