District 196 Has Openings On Gifted And Talented Advisory Council

ROSEMOUNT, Minn. -- District 196 is accepting applications through May 28 for two elementary parents and one community business representative on its Gifted and Talented Advisory Council (GTAC). The term for all open positions is three years, beginning July 1, 2021.

The purpose of the council is to ensure community awareness and understanding of the district's gifted and talent development (GTD) programs, and to provide input to the district’s Curriculum and Instruction Advisory Council and administration on GTD programming plans that support district goals, policies and initiatives.

District 196 policy outlines GTAC membership to ensure equitable stakeholder representatives. At this time, the following representatives are needed:

• Two parents/guardians of a child in a district elementary school who is identified for the district’s gifted and talent Development (GTD) Program.
• One member representing a community business.

Members of the local business community are also welcome to apply for membership on the GTAC. Please visit the District 196 website at District196.org to see the policy in full.

Parents and staff interested in being considered for GTAC membership must apply by May 28. The application is available at District196.org or by calling Cathy Fischbach at 651-423-7885.
