Driver Blows Stop Sign, Kills 21-Year-Old In Apple Valley: Police
Police say the driver of a Jeep Cherokee was at fault for the crash and has been transported to jail pending criminal charges.
APPLE VALLEY, MN — A 21-year-old male died Wednesday in a crash in Apple Valley after another motorist blew a stop sign, authorities say. On Wednesday Aug. 30, at about 5:10 p.m., Apple Valley police responded to a traffic crash at the intersection of 155th Street and Embry Path involving two vehicles, including a motorcycle.
The driver of the motorcycle was located in the roadway. Police said lifesaving efforts were performed but the driver, a 21-year-old male, died at the scene. The driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, 41, suffered minor injuries.
Police say the initial investigation, supported by video from a nearby business, showed the driver of the Jeep Cherokee was at fault for the crash as he failed to obey a stop sign. He was transported to the Dakota County Jail pending criminal charges, according to a news release.

Authorities say it does not appear that alcohol or drug impairment played a role in this crash. The Minnesota State Patrol and Hennepin County Medical Examiner are assisting with the investigation, which is ongoing. The deceased victim’s identity is not being released pending notification to next of kin.
