Stop by to learn more about Relay For Life and how to become involved! Join us on Thursday, January 20th at 6:00 pm at Old Chicago (Cedar Room) in Apple Valley for our 2011 Relay For Life of Apple Valley Kickoff Party! The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a fun-filled event that mobilizes communities to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to the disease, and raise money for the fight against cancer. Relay For Life brings together friends, family, businesses, hospitals, schools, places of worship…people of all ages and from all walks of life! All funds raised support the mission of the American Cancer Society – to eliminate cancer. Relay For Life’s success begins with the heart and voice of the local community and has resulted in over $3 billion dollars raised for cancer research, education, services and advocacy. Relay For Life draws its community together with one voice in support of the fight against cancer. At Relay For Life, we honor cancer survivors by inviting them to take the first lap around the track, the Survivor’s Lap. The Luminaria Ceremony is another highlight of the event. Each luminaria bears the name of a person who has battled cancer. At dusk, we light all the candles along the path. They burn into the night, honoring and remembering those who have faced cancer, and lighting the way for walkers along a path of hope. Everyone is welcome to come learn more about Relay For Life! Learn how to join or start a team, volunteer opportunities , join the planning committee, sponsorship opportunities, and more! Enjoy pizza and appetizers! The American Cancer Society Relay For Life gives everyone the opportunity to celebrate, remember, and fight back as we make a difference in the fight against cancer.
