Farmington Man Tried To Kill 25-Year-Old Girlfriend: Charges
The woman's wounds required emergency surgery and she lost part of a finger, according to police.

FARMINGTON, MN — Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced Wednesday that Nicholas Orion Carlson, age 35 of Farmington, has been charged with attempted murder and assault in connection with a non-fatal shooting of a 25-year-old female in Farmington. The woman has been identified by authorities as Carlson's girlfriend
Police say Carlson shot his girlfriend a total of four times. The woman's wounds required emergency surgery and she lost part of a finger, according to the criminal complaint.
At about 8:51 p.m. on Sept. 3, officers from the Farmington Police Department were dispatched to the 18300 block of Exodus Court for a female who had been shot. Upon arrival, the victim was located in the yard of the residence with multiple gunshot wounds and transported to the hospital. She is currently recovering after surgery.

Carlson remained in the residence and initially refused to exit, according to police. The Dakota County Mutual Aid Assistance Group was mobilized and secured the scene while negotiations continued with the suspect. At about 10:30 p.m., the suspect emerged from the residence unarmed and was taken into custody without incident, according to authorities.

Backstrom commented: “This appears to be another case of domestic violence that almost took a life in our community.
