Fatal Apple Valley Crash Victim Was St. Thomas Student

APPLE VALLEY, MN — Robert "Bobby" Bloom, 21, and a member of the University of St. Thomas class of 2018, was killed while riding his motorcycle in Apple Valley Aug. 30. Bloom graduated from White Bear Lake High School. He was studying supply chain and operations management at St. Thomas. Bloom was also president of the St. Thomas fishing club.
Visitations will be held Wednesday, Sept. 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, Sept. 7 from 10:30-11:30 a.m., at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in White Bear Lake. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
Police say the initial investigation, supported by video from a nearby business, showed the driver of a Jeep Cherokee was at fault for the crash as he failed to obey a stop sign.

"Bobby was loved beyond words," his family said in a statement to the university. "His faith in God and love for family and friends will be our guide during this difficult time."
