Football Roundup: Apple Valley drills Bloomington Jefferson
Rosemount and Eastview have tough times with the two top-ranked teams in the Twin Cities metro.

Apple Valley and Rosemount high school teams went 1-2 on the second Friday of the football season.
In Friday night’s action, Apple Valley improved its record to 2-0 by downing Bloomington Jefferson, 30-8, in the South Suburban Conference opener for both teams. Rosemount and Eastview fell to Class 6A powers Eden Prairie and Wayzata, respectively.

APPLE VALLEY 30, BLOOMINGTON JEFFERSON 6
In Bloomington, the Eagles shot out to a 30-0 lead, which it took into the fourth quarter.

Scoring touchowns for Apple Valley were Quinn Hooks, on a 63-yard run and a 71-yard pass from Tommy Singer; Dom McDew-Stauffer, on a 1-yard run; and Steve Wilson, on a 25-yard run.
Jefferson broke up the shutout with safety and a touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

EDEN PRAIRIE 34, ROSEMOUNT 7
Rosemount had a difficult time keeping up with defending state champion Eden Prairie, which is ranked as the top team the StarTribune’s metro ranking.
Eden Prairie shot out to a 14-0 first-quarter lead. After the Irish cut the lead in half on a 30-yard touchdown pass from Sean Kallinowski to Dimitri Williams, the visiting Eagles scored three unanswered touchdowns.
Rosemount, 0-2 overall, will host Bloomington Kennedy in an SSC matchup at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14.
WAYZATA 24, EASTVIEW 7
At Wayzata, Eastview held the metro’s number-two team scoreless after the first quarter and to just three points in the first half. The Trojans took over in the second half, through, with three touchdowns to go out to a 24-0 advantage.
Will Rains scored the Lightning’s only touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Eastview, 1-1 overall, hosts Lakeville North in an SSC game at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14.
