Minnesota Valley Women's and Men's Chorales Spring Concert

The Minnesota Valley Men’s and Women’s Chorales, under the direction of Steven Boehlke and Judy Sagen, will present their Spring Choral Concerts on Friday, April 20 and Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 7:30 pm at Grace Lutheran Church in Apple Valley. A variety of choral music will be performed including Classical, Spirituals, Americana, Multicultural, Gospel, Pop, and Broadway.

As part of their ongoing Choral Commission Program, the Minnesota Valley Men’s Chorale will perform this year’s premiere work, “Light, My Light”, by composer Christopher Aspaas. Dr. Aspaas is the director of Choral Activities at Texas Christian University and is the former director at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. The choir will also be premiering a new arrangement by David Childs, “I Want To Be Where Your Barefoot Walks”. For the concert finale, the men’s and women’s chorales will combine and perform four mass selections together.

In early February, both choirs performed with guest high school men’s and women’s choirs from District 196 to raise money for college scholarships. The scholarships will be presented at the beginning of Friday evening’s concert to high school seniors who were selected via an application process.

The Minnesota Valley Men’s and Women’s Chorales recently performed in “A Christmas Portrait”, at the Fall 2017 ACDA of MN Conference, under the direction of Mack Wilberg, conductor of The Mormon Tabernacle Choir. They were two of six community choirs invited to perform. In December, the Minnesota Valley Women’s Chorale was also voted as one of the top 5 community choirs in Minnesota.
